Atmospheric streets and squares

As you walk from Interlaken Ost to Interlaken West, you will be surrounded by the glittering lights of the carefully placed Christmas illuminations. Over 100 creatively and lovingly decorated Christmas trees supplied by Interlaken’s small businesses fill the wintry streets with festive charm and joy.

The stag

The stag by class 18b at Gymnasium Interlaken secondary school is a tall and truly awesome sight to behold, perfectly made using local driftwood and large and small filigree stars. It provides visitors of the Migros Interlaken forecourt a majestic welcome.

The Christmas tree

Listen to the tinkling of the wind and enjoy the light display. The new-look Christmas tree by Martin Brunner (Zeitzone 25) is made from native spruce wood from the Harderwald forest and enchants this year the Marktplatz Interlaken. Discover exciting messages in this display's meaningful grove of trees.

The Christmas crib

In addition to Mary, Joseph, baby Jesus, the three kings, the shepherds and the usual crib figures and animals, you’ll also find a tourist in this installation. This modern interpretation of the nativity scene by Martin Brunner (Zeitzone 25) in the Kursaal Park is made from native spruce wood and captivates spectators with its clarity while leaving room for their own imagination.

The ibexes

An ibex family meets on the Postplatz Interlaken for a cosy winter fondue. "Say Cheese" is the motto for this work of art by high school students from the classes 21abc from Gymnasium Interlaken secondary school. Snap a fun selfie as you join in with your friends and share it with those at home using the hashtag #Winterlaken. A merry winter's message from the artists and Interlaken's heraldic animal that will find its way around the world.

The winter bear

With his blue scarf, the winter bear makes his rounds in the enchanted forest on skates. The class SFBG23 of Gymnasium Interlaken shows the proud heraldic animal on the Interlaken East Wasserstein from its sporting side.
