Magical winter moments on the ice

Glide across the glistening ice on your skates or play ice hockey on the soft hockey ice rink. Ice skating in the middle of Interlaken, surrounded by snow-covered mountain peaks and a phenomenal panorama is the perfect winter experience, whatever the snow conditions. The Top of Europe ICE MAGIC, with its carefully prepared ice rinks, is open daily from December to February.

Taking those first steps on the ice

Ice skating is something that has to be learnt Even small children can take their first steps on the smooth white ice in safety. The Top of Europe ICE MAGIC offers a covered ice rink with slightly less slippery ice and special skating aids especially for children. The children’s ice rink is open daily from 10.00 – 15.00h. Lace up your skates, put on your helmet, grab one of the amusing Jamadu skating aids and you’re off!

A fantastic winter experience, whatever the weather

Experience a magical winter atmosphere, regardless of the snow conditions. The Top of Europe ICE MAGIC offers you unforgettable experiences, whatever the weather. Whether you’re gliding past the first harbingers of spring in the sunshine or watching the action on the ice while cocooned in a woollen blanket in fog with snow flurries, you’ll enjoy the experience. To ensure that you stay dry even when it’s wet, the children’s ice rink is open to everyone when it rains.

Soft ice hockey for sporty types

Do you love playing sport? Hockey fans are sure to enjoy soft hockey. The soft hockey rink is 125 m2 and is accessed via the ice paths, through the normal ice rink entrance. A limited number of hockey sticks including soft pucks can be hired for free at the venue or bring your own hockey stick. Soft pucks are mandatory due to noise limits. The use of normal pucks is not permitted. Fancy competing against your friends? No problem, we can organise tournaments on request. Grab your hockey stick and hit the ice!

Ice paths

Glide along the winding ice paths from one ice rink to the next through the winter wonderland. The lighting casts an atmospheric medley of colour on the ice paths and rinks as darkness falls. Stop at the legendary Photopoint as you explore all the venue has to offer and take your unique souvenir photo.

Need a little help to get on the ice?

Still a bit wobbly? Fancy skating a little more elegantly? Then why not book a private lesson with an ice-skating coach? It costs CHF 80.00 per hour for up to four people (excludes admission to the ice rink and skate hire). E-mail your booking request to info@icemagic.ch, call tel. +41 33 826 00 90 or book online. If possible, you should enquire about booking a coach at least two days before your visit to the ICE MAGIC site. An hour with an ice-skating coach also makes for the ideal gift.

Special offer for schools – getting schools on the ice

Looking to arrange a visit to the Top of Europe ICE MAGIC in the heart of Interlaken for your students and yourself? Take your PE lesson to the ice rink and spend an exciting day ice skating with your class. Every Swiss state school is entitled to take advantage of free skating between 10.00h and 16.00h on weekdays, with the proviso that reservations are made in advance.

To ensure that your trip is perfect in every way

  • Bring your own skates if you have some. If not, ICE MAGIC has some 800 pairs for hire (sizes 27 – 47).

  • Helmets can be rented free of charge at the venue

  • Gloves and warm clothing are recommended

  • Coat checks are available. Coin-operated lockers can be rented for CHF 2.00 per use.

  • Amusing Jamadu skating aids are available free of charge for children

Frequently asked questions

What is included in the ice rink day ticket?

The day ticket covers your access to the ice rinks throughout the day during the venue’s regular opening hours and is non-transferable. You can leave the ice rink for a refreshment break and return at any time during the course of the day.

What discounts are available?

Where can I find the Jamadu skating aids?

A limited number of Jamadu skating aids are available free of charge on the special children’s ice rink as well as on the other rinks and ice paths. These skating aids cannot be reserved.

Are coat checks and lockers available?

Coat checks are available. Coin-operated lockers can be rented for CHF 2.00 per use.

Do I need to bring my own ice skates?

You can bring your own skates if you have some. If not, the ICE MAGIC skate hire office offers an extensive selection to choose from. You can hire a pair of top-quality ice skates for CHF 9.00 for the entire day. You will need to bring an official identity document as a deposit.

Can I learn to skate at the venue?

Yes you can. We will be happy to arrange a trained ice-skating coach to accompany you on the ice and pass on a host of tips and tricks. Is there music in the venue?

During the day, the ice skating is accompanied by soft, relaxing background music. Fridays and Saturdays are Music Nights and feature a variety of musical genres.

Is the venue open in all weathers?

ICE MAGIC is open daily whatever the weather. We recommend you visit the website or call ICE MAGIC Info tel. +41 33 826 00 90 in the event of extreme weather conditions.

Are helmets available?

Helmets can be hired free of charge from the skate hire office. The helmets are sponsored by Central Sport Wengen.

Is the venue wheelchair accessible?

Many areas of the Piazza and access to the Swiss Chalet Restaurant are wheelchair accessible and suitable for prams. Wheelchair users are welcome to use the unique, curving ice rinks. You can register directly at the venue’s ticket office. Prams are not permitted on the ice rinks.
